Stripe me dear

It’s not easy mixing two stripes together.  As conflicting as it may sound, don’t completely shut you mind to this idea yet. With a bit of  guidance, you may find it much more do-able.  When mixing two stripes you want them to have something in common whether it be they both share a color, like in my case there is navy blue in the skirt and that is not black on the shirt, it is also navy blue.  Other common things to look for besides color is size of the stripes (width) texture is another one and lastly if they don’t have something in common use something to break it like a bright clutch, a bright statement necklace, belt or scarf.

Putting two bright colors together can easily look messy. The trick is looking at the shades  or warmth of it. Is it a baby pink, hot pink, medium tone and determining if the hue will compliment the shade of whatever color your attempting to blend it with.

Close up and personal, I like my charm necklace! All my jewelry in this post are courtesy of my guy. It’s nice to have a guy who’s in tune with what you like 😉

And to end, I made this next picture  black and white. It will make mixing stripes look more do-able for those not so sure yet, start with solid colors. Two stripes with different width but keep the  same color, maybe different shade of the same color–okay I won’t push you.

p.s It doesn’t have to be all horizontal stripes either, it’s even more fun mixing horizontal and vertical stripes or an abstract one 😉
