“Tolerance, inter-cultural dialogue and respect for diversity are more essential than ever in a world where peoples are becoming more and more closely interconnected.”- Kofi Annan, Former Secretary- general of the United Nations
Today I celebrate 14 years in U.S ! My family and I came here June 3, 1999, on my sister’s birthday, so I celebrate her too! With technological advancement and increasing global interdependence, we are quickly becoming one as a human race. It’s extremely essential to try to understand and respect each other on a global level and attempt to overlook our smallest differences. In the big picture, we all want the same things: Happiness, prosperity love and peace … the difference comes in how we go about getting these things. Thanks to my African-girl-living-in-America experiences, I have learned to embrace diversity as I am a product of a mixed culture: African roots and upbringing, American education and experiences.
If for nothing else, diversity brings about delicious food – just adding humor here ( pun intended lol). But honestly I have never been to Asia, Greece, Brazil and many other places, yet I have tasted their delicious meals thanks to the melting pot/ salad bowl of America!! YUMMY! Now if we can only transform this passion towards each other too 😉
P.S After writing the So-love Solange post, I was hungry for a retro-style outfit – what I wore on the weekend. And if you know me, it’s my default sense of style. I love oldies, vintage treasures hence my closet being about 80% thrift-ed/vintage goodies!!

p.s I really wanted to have this shoot right before sunset so it can be bright and vibrant, the hat made a shadow on my face as you see, but I think the darkness makes it look like am going to some funky party in the 80s or something! No?
